our bright town

“Our Bright Town” is a Shadow catching mural art project in the heart of the New Brighton Pedestrian Mall.
New Brighton Project engaged with local Artist Jeremy Sauzier to create this artwork.
With a palette of sunrise/sunset colours. The mural reflects and includes the landscape and people of the area providing a sense of familiarity and connection for our hapori and an artistic insight of our hapori to visitors.
Our Bright Town has been collaborative in its approach and inclusive of the people in the area as it invited an aspect of public participation in its creation.

 This artwork is more than just a mural as it includes 172 shadows of locals.
It is a snapshot of our wonderful and diverse hapori.​

​This project was made possible with support from Christchurch City Council Enliven Places Projects Fund and Graffiti Program Community Support Unit, Resene, Mark and the Team at Dyers Road Hirepool Ltd and Glen and Robbie of ATF South Island. Temporary Fencing and Vision Surveillance.
The Our bright Town Space has been used for various workshops and mini concerts, been included in the New Brighton Urban Art Tours  and recently featured in  Local Band The Hootz music video Fly With Me.
